Travel Information
Daejeon is one of the biggest cities in Korea located in the center of the territory. Daejeon is roughly 150 km away from Incheon and
Gimpo International Airport, and it usually takes about 2-3 hours by bus or train.
From/To Incheon International Airport (ICN) To/From Daejeon
Airport bus
Airport bus ticket can be purchased at ticket office at the airport and at the local stop. Detailed information
at the airport can be found from
Incheon International Airport Bus Guide . The bus commutes every 10-30 minutes (first bus: 6:00 am, last bus: 11:30 pm), and fare
is KRW 23,100 (KRW 27,700 in the evening). The right bus stop in Daejeon is Daejeon Government Building .

Daejeon Government Building - Daejeon
After getting off the bus, take a taxi to the hotel. It usually takes about 15 minutes, and fare is roughly KRW 5,000,
but it may differ depending on traffic. In case that taxi driver does not understand you, please show the below Korean sentence:
유성호텔로 가주세요. (Please take me to Yousung Hotel.)
To the airport, please show the below Korean sentence:
정부청사 공항버스 정류장으로 가주세요. (Please take me to Daejeon Government Building airport bus stop.)

Train
It takes about 1 hours by express train (KTX) between Seoul and Daejeon. There is also a direct express train
between the airport and Daejeon, but only few times per day, therefore, it is more practical to travel from the airport
to Seoul (about 50 minutes), from Seoul to Daejeon (about 1 hour), and vice versa.
Between the airport and Seoul
Take airport railroad express at the airport. It directly goes to Seoul Station, and takes
about 50 minutes with a fare of KRW 8,000.

Between Seoul and Daejeon
After getting off the airport railroad, please follow the sign of KTX.
Train ticket can be purchased at the ticket office in the KTX station. It costs about KRW 22,000 (economy) or
KRW 33,000 (first-class) to Daejeon station .
After getting off the train at Daejeon station ,
please proceed to west side of the station.
Take a taxi at the taxi stop in front of the station. It usually takes about 20 minutes, and fare is roughly KRW 10,000,
but it may differ depending on traffic.
In case that taxi driver does not understand you, please show the below Korean sentence:
유성호텔로 가주세요. (Please take me to Yousung Hotel.)
To the station, please show the below Korean sentence:
대전역으로 가주세요. (Please take me to Daejeon station.)
From/To Gimpo International Airport (GMP) To/From Daejeon
Airport bus
Airport bus ticket can be purchased at ticket office at the airport and at the local stop. Detailed information

Gimpo International Airport Bus Guide . The bus commutes every 1-2 hours (first bus: 7:25 am, last bus: 8:25 pm), and fare
is KRW 14,300. The right bus stop in Daejeon is Daejeon Government Building .

Daejeon Government Building - Daejeon
After getting off the bus, take a taxi to the hotel. It usually takes about 15 minutes, and fare is roughly KRW 5,000,

Visa Requirements
We strongly recommend you to contact your relevant embassy as soon as possible for information regarding your visa in
accordance with the duration and nature of your stay in Korea. If you need a visa to enter Korea, it must be obtained
before leaving your home country.
If your country of origin has a visa-waiver agreement with South Korea , participating in HIF2018
would not require any further formalities.
In case if you need a visa, please apply early (at least 1-2 months before the meeting) and request a letter of invitation
directly to Professor Hong Jin Kong (hjkong@kaist.ac.kr).
